Javet & Javet Wines: Harmony and balance in the bottle

Biodynamic, natural and sulphite-free: Discover Javet & Javet wines, an estate located in Lugnorre in the canton of Fribourg.

THE JAVET FAMILY

The Javet & Javet winery has been producing wines since 2004 in Vully in Lugnorre. The wine production of this winery is relatively recent, while Étienne Javet and his family have owned these vines for six generations.

The estate is run by the entire family: Étienne Javet, his brother Antoine and their parents. This family farm is very attached to its human values: proximity, ecology and ethics. These beautiful values are present throughout the work in the vineyard as well as in the cellar as well as within the team.

JAVET WINES: DIVERSITY, QUALITY AND RESPECT

The cellar produces more than 20 wines, offering a great diversity of wines and grape varieties. They all have one thing in common: the quality and care taken at each stage of production.

The Javet & Javet cellar masters all stages of wine creation from start to finish:

  • Planting and maintaining vines
  • Harvest
  • Celling
  • Tasting
  • Sales and promotion

It is because Étienne Javet takes care of everything that he can produce such good wines. In addition, this mode of operation allows great traceability and responsiveness: it constantly adapts by making the best decisions to produce wines of excellence. Each member of the team is also a member of the family, who knows the wines and understands the quality objective that the estate has set for itself. This allows total transparency both on a human level and in terms of production.

ECOLOGY AND ETHICS AT THE HEART OF THE JAVET & JAVET DOMAIN

Étienne Javet and his team do everything to produce quality wines while respecting the land and the future generations who will inherit it.

The estate has been producing biodynamic wines for 11 years. Labeled Demeter since 2014, Javet wines combine ecology and taste. The spirit of the estate is to leave the smallest possible trace on Earth in order to bequeath healthy soil to future generations.

“When I talk about ecology with future generations in mind, I'm not just talking about my daughters, but about the human beings who will take over the field after me, whoever they may be.”

THE PARTICULARITY OF JAVET WINES: WINES WITHOUT SULPHITES

Thanks to Étienne's experimentation and research efforts, his wines contain little to no sulphite. He constantly seeks to improve his wines while producing them in the most natural way possible.

“Wine without sulfur, if we do it well and we are very precise, we have a product which comes closer and closer to the ideal since we have almost more than grapes in it.”

This is made possible by the extremely regular monitoring of the wines during the maturation process: the team tastes the wine frequently and decides to add sulfur only if this is essential to stabilize the wine. The result is a range of wines of exceptional quality and a fruity and structured taste for certain wines.

ÉTIENNE JAVET’S FAVORITE WINES

When his daughter was born in 2015, Étienne Javet decided to begin his research and create a high-end pinot noir, AimeTerre Pinot Noir. Years later, this pinot noir is the tasty fruit of the perfectionist philosophy of the Javet & Javet winery. Raised in wood, it combines elegance and harmony. Étienne is proud of this wine and its taste which is both fruity and structured.

The Untitled, for its part, is a blend that shakes things up with its atypical taste. Étienne says that he likes to think outside the box and focuses on originality. His love and deep respect for the terroir allow him to think outside the box with this daring blend of Gamaret and Merlot. The bet paid off! You have to taste it to believe it? Taste the Untitled by ordering our Javet & Javet discovery box.

ÉTIENNE JAVET AND HIS PASSIONATE JOB

Étienne really enjoys his job. What he particularly likes:

  • There is no routine: every day is different and he adapts to his vineyard and the evolution of his wines in the cellar. Additionally, thanks to the “vintage effect”, each year is different from the previous one. Étienne is delighted to discover what each day has in store for him.
  • Working in the vineyard: he likes to “understand the plant” and take care of it with care
  • The dynamic aspect of his job: as he masters each stage of wine production, he can be very responsive to variations in the vines and the climate.
  • Diversity: from working in the vineyard and cellar, including accounting, he appreciates the variety of tasks he performs.

A SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN JAVET & JAVET AND GIFT SELECTION

Étienne Javet and his team have been part of SWISS GIFT SELECTION's Artisan winegrowers partners for many years.

The recipe for this beautiful, lasting collaboration? Lots of mutual understanding, working hand in hand and above all: A good dose of good humor!
