Véronyc and Philippe Mettaz: The art of adapting grape varieties to the terroir

At the cellar of Véronyc and Philippe Mettaz, diversity is the watchword. With 30 wines, different grape varieties, altitudes and locations, this cellar located in Fully in Valais will definitely have a wine to satisfy you.

GRAPES FOR MORE DIVERSITY

Véronyc says that when she took over the estate with her husband, they considerably modified the grape varieties of the estate, for more diversity. Little by little, the couple bought vines and thus built the estate step by step.

Our goal was really to know the terroir and adapt the grape variety to the terroir.

AUTHENTIC AND NATURAL WINES FROM VALAIS

The cellar has been in organic reconversion since 2020 and in Demeter reconversion since 2021. This decision was carefully considered. PASSION FLOWS IN THE VEINS OF METTAZ

Véronyc says with humor that she did not choose this profession: “It was rather the profession that chose me”. Here's what she loves about her job:

A FAMILY-CENTERED WINERY

Véronyc comes from a family of winegrowers. Philippe's father was also a winegrower and they created the estate together in 1984, until Véronyc and Philippe took over in 1992. And the future looks good for the cellar because their son has decided to resume when he has finished his studies, thus perpetuating the family tradition.
