Weingut Wegelin: The treasure of Graubünden

It is in the wine-growing village of Malans (Graubünden) that Raphaël Hug took over the organic estate Weingut Wegelin in 2019, which he manages alongside his wife, Mathilde Hug Pédeutour. This couple of oenologists at the head of the Weingut Wegelin estate decided to begin the process of reconversion to Demeter biodynamics and produce high quality wines.

LOTS OF CARE IN EVERY STEP

From A to Z, the Weingut Wegelin team monitors each stage of the production chain, ensuring impeccable quality . From the vineyard to the cellar via bottling, what Mathilde likes is the diversity of the tasks. Mathilde is happy every morning to wake up and work for what she loves. What he likes is working calmly on a plot and knowing that this has an impact on the quality of the wine.

A QUALITY WINE ALSO GOES THROUGH THE GROUND

The advantage of the estate is undoubtedly the quality of its wines, obtained thanks to meticulous care given to the grapes as well as the preservation of the soil and therefore its health.

Moreover, preserving the soil in order to leave the earth clean for future generations is essential for this couple of winegrowers and oenologists. It is with this same perspective that their decision to convert to biodynamics is made.

The winemaker from Bordeaux says that she particularly appreciates the tasting aspect of her job. Everything about Mathilde and Raphaël revolves around their passion for wine : they are also very greedy and love to cook.
